We are delighted to share photos from Knoxville Local, a Tri-Star Arts exhibition in Knoxville, TN located at the East Tennessee Foundation (520 W. Summit Hill Drive, Suite 1101, Knoxville, Tennessee). It is the first in our Local exhibition series highlighting TN Artists. The show’s Curator is East-Tennessee native Ashley Layendecker and features 23 Knoxville-area visual artists.
Knoxville Local is on view virtually at the moment, with expected in-person viewing opportunities forthcoming in late 2021. It runs for 15 months, from October 1, 2020, through December 31, 2021, and also coincides with the 35th anniversary of the ETF in 2021.
Ashley Layendecker is a painter, writer, and independent curator working in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her BFA in Studio Art, 2D concentration in 2016, and her MS in Teacher Education in 2017 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Ashley formerly worked at Fluorescent Gallery in Knoxville, where she held the position of Assistant to the Director. She moved to Nashville in March 2018 where she is actively involved with the growing art scene in the city. She is currently the Gallery Manager at The Red Arrow Gallery in East Nashville and writes for LocateArts.org as a contributor to The Focus blog.

About the Local Series
Knoxville Local is part of a Tennessee-centric, Tri-Star Arts exhibition series. It highlights the work of hometown artists selected by guest curators from the same city. The series offers the chance to celebrate the depth of the Tennessee art scene through the eyes of the curators. It is an extension of the vision of Tri-Star Arts to spotlight and grow the contemporary visual arts in the state.
